good evening ladies and gentlemen.

today i would like to inform you that my com has been successfully breached by 6 viruses. my com is now 85% offline. basically i've got to run in safe mode. my sound card drivers have been disabled. my video card drivers are disabled too. so yahz... could be a blessing in disguise for all you may know.

anyway today i had my RSAF medical test at the RSAF aeromedical centre at paya lebar airbase. interesting to note that the street signs say its paya lebar airport, while RSAF calls it paya lebar airbase.

did the usual tests. this like my 4th time being there. standard stuff like
biodata, chest x-ray, urine test, blood test, ENT, low-high freq test, dental and most importantly eye.

eye test got so many one manz.... first had the colour blind test. then the squint test, then something to test lazy eye, also another one to test for the min distance your eyes can focus to and your usual read the lines.

OH! i kinda got some good stuff from the eye section that i find would help people to understand better about laser eye treatment. well i only know one who would love to know about it. ^_^ xiu!!! so.... i might think that 99% of my blog readers might stop reading right here. or could carry on if ya want to get some eye treatment anytime soon.

Basically there is 2 types of eye treatment. LASIK, Laser-in-situ keratomileusis. and PRK or photorefrative keratectomy.

LASIK
Modified version of PRK.
Uses an instrument called a microkeratome to create a thin flap of corneal tissue.
the flap is folded aside and the eximer laser is then used to remove tissue from the exposed surface, correcting myopia and astigmatism. the corneal flap is then replaced.

PRK
Uses computer controlled accuracy and precisions of the excimer laser to sculpt the surface of the cornea, correcting both myopia and astig. As very thin layers of cornea is removeed, PRK does NOT weaken the eye.

when should u take it?
no significant increase in spec prescription within the last 12months.
people with medical conditons or who are pregnant are not recommended.

Side effects?
glare, halos, dry eyes and mild fluctualtion of vision for first 5months.

Pain?
LASIK: Only for 6hours after surgery
PRK : 48 to 72 hours after surgery

Recovery period?
LASIK: immediate effect
PRK : about 1 week.
