ITSUMO FUTARI DE...

just completed watching another japanese drama... itsumo futari de or otherwise known in english as "always the 2 of us".. an interesting show of how 2 childhood friends are so fond of each other that they do not realise that their relationship is more romantic than what we would normally see. the characters are mizuho and kenta (the girl and the guy respectively) its interesting to know how slowly as kenta's relationship with the girl he likes, Yoko, that mizuho realises that her friendship with kenta isn't exactly just a good childhood friendship and that it has grown to the next level.

WARNING SPOILER AHEAD... DO NOT READ IF U DONT WANNA KNOW HOW IT ENDED.

generally speaking i think that this show handles such interesting aspects of life, though not all of us will find our true love from our childhood friends, but it is none the less explored in a interesting way that kept me on my seat. the moment that mizuho had found out that her feelings for kenta (she calls him hachi) things really take a nice turn.... we are exposed to how love can have such a strong destabilising effect. its actually quite interesting to note that the moment that she found out that she loves him.... that the night when she went home, and when she saw him up close and personal.... she was totally taken back.... oh yahz.. forgot to mention that hachi's apartment is shared by his brother and his girlfriend and mizuho. ^_^

at the end of the show i found it quite cute since normally in jap dramas the end of the series would be guy comes to girl... "i love you" kisses ending credits pop up... really the pattern is something like that... its not a bad thing.... though from episode 1 you can guess who's gonna end up with who..... it still strikes the touching note when it eventually ends.... as always.... (maybe cause i watch the ones with my fav actors/actresses.. so not exposed to a wide variety) anyway for this series i think it was approached with great dramatic significance... since they were childhood friends afterall.... it would be foolhardy as to omit such an important aspect of their relationship.

from this scene... hachi had returned mizuho's words to her (i love you) in a quiet place and hug in happiness.... interesting enough this is what we do as friends in real life... but since they are now lovers, hachi decides to take things one step further and attempts to kiss her... as they get romantically close to each other.... she just bursts out laughing.... haha..... pretty symbolic of a childhood friendship kinda relationship and yea.... i had a good laugh too... very interesting and heart warming drama that i've been so lucky to come across.... well approached and well received.... ^_^

"Will you be my valentine?"

perhaps not a commonly used phrase in the modern times and perhaps instead being said in a very colloquial manner like "eh wanna go out on valentine's day?". the day where couples are made and where tons of flowers are marked up and sold so that guys can buy them for their sweethearts... i know of many who would think that i'm gonna talk about how commercialism has taken away the..... splendor of V day. as for me... one of the rare few who's never even had a play play kinda relationship before... V day to me is a day whereby i'll just take part in the spirit of giving, perhaps a second christmas spirit.. :P, and give a little present to my good girl-friends... note the hyphen.... :P sad to say many have questioned and exclaimed.... "you mean you're still single???" remembers what a friend told me on msn a month or so backed.

anyway this year appears to be an interesting year..... for the first time in the preparation for valentines day i see such an interesting promotion/offer... at a shop in jurong. it goes something like this... buy a bouquet of roses from us (dunno how many..) and we will give you anyone of this for free! ok picture a signboard that has this picture of a bouquet of roses at about chest level surrounded by 4 freebies on the top left/right bottom left and right.... .... ... .. got it? haha okiz.... now the interesting part... at the bottom 2 we have someting like a box of chocolates or dinner vouchers for free..... the top right would be a present.... and the top left at eye level in a cramped passageway was a "G-STRING..." no it wasn't in words nor was it in pictorial form.... but the real thing itself.... being suductively pink in colour, their advertising campaign was immensely attractive with guys just walking looking, turning away and peeping as they walked past it.... i myself was also taken in by it.... haha...... there were like some small words next to it for those who have never seen an inverted party hat or a fashionable mask (think SARS days..) which read "G-String" with a prefix before it... probably some hot word like "seductive" "hot"... i kinda forgot what they wrote cause i think many of us guys.... would probably know what the hell a G-Strong is.... and that the many of us who do not know.... well... you probably aren't old enough yet... switch off your monitor and go watch some pokemon or something....

will i have a valentine this year? hmmmm.... i wonder....
